MCA-21 V3: What Actually Changed, and What's Working in 2026

MCA-21 V3 launched in January 2023 to a chorus of professional complaint. Filings broke, DSCs misbehaved, the company-login interface was unfamiliar, and the form library felt half-finished. The wins (real, even if quiet)

• Single sign-on. User-based login, not per-company. One CS can move across clients without re-authenticating each time.
• Master-data pre-fill. SPICe+, AOC-4, MGT-7, DIR-12 — all pre-populate from the existing CIN record.
• Inline validation. Errors surface before upload, not after. This single change has cut the iteration cycle on tricky forms by 60%.
• Mobile-friendly status checks. Track a filing from your phone without opening a desktop session.
• OTP-based MFA. DSC is no longer the only login factor for every action.

What is still genuinely broken in mid-2026

• Bulk filing. If you are filing fifty AOC-4s in a week, V3 still does not bulk well. Workaround: stagger uploads, split across users.
• DSC-PAN mismatches. The PAN encoded in the DSC must match the PAN on MCA records exactly. Hyphens, name initials, even a trailing space cause failures.
• XBRL taxonomy churn. The 2024 IND-AS taxonomy is still being refined. Plan one extra working day per AOC-4 XBRL filing.
• Form withdrawals. Withdrawing a form mid-process is unforgiving — once submitted, the SRN is sticky.

1. Validate locally before upload. The schema is published. Run a local check; do not let the portal be your first validator.
2. Pre-fix master data. Run a quarterly DIN status + PAN linkage + DSC expiry check across your entire book. Most V3 failures are master-data failures, not portal failures.
3. Stage filings outside peak hours. The portal load between 6 pm and 10 pm IST is meaningfully higher than between 8 am and noon. Schedule accordingly.
4. Keep a fresh DSC reserve. Every practice should have at least two DSCs per practising signatory, with expiry tracked.
